Conversational analytics is the capability to query data and generate analytical insights through natural language — asking questions in plain text or speech and receiving data-driven answers without the need to write queries or navigate traditional BI interfaces. Conversational analytics platforms use natural language processing (NLP) to interpret user intent, translate natural language questions into database queries, and return results in formats such as tables, charts, or narrative summaries, enabling a broader range of users to access data independently.
Why This Matters
The value of analytical data is limited to the people who can access it. Traditional BI tools require users to know where data is, how it is structured, and how to navigate the interface — creating a barrier that limits self-service analytics to technically proficient users. Conversational analytics removes this barrier by allowing any user to ask questions in the way they naturally think, dramatically expanding the population of users who can independently access data without requiring BI analyst support for every query.
